Smartphones to be used for Application of Passport

As per the news speculated in the air on Wednesday, passport applicants would be able to apply with the help of the smart phones.
With the help of mPassport Seva App. Passport applicant would be allowed to fill the application. According to the Joint Secretary (Passport Seva Project) and Chief Passport Officer Muktesh Kumar Pardeshi, this kind of application would be launched in few months to serve people.

Reports say that an android App "The 'mPassport Seva' which is developed by Ministry of External Affairs" was instigated earlier in March.

The users of smart phone and tablet can download App from www.passportindia.gov.in, they offer numerous amenities like passport application status, tracking and locating Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) and several other information.

While inaugurating the passport office CCTV control room at Regional Passport Office at Secuderabad, Pradeshi, the ministry of external affairs said that they are likely to issue 85 lakhs passport this year. Last year about 74 lakhs passport was issued.

He said that, they have already issued 37 lakhs passports since January to June this year and they are about to issue 75 lakh Passport Offices in India and rest 11- 12 lakh passports will be issued from missions/embassys overseas.
As per Pradeshi, "e-India public choice award 2013 is given to the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) under government to citizen service category.
